If you have questions, need help with specific dooyoo matters or perhaps something pertaining to your dooyoo account; you may post your question here and any one of the lovely guides we have on board is sure to come along with an answer or offer of help.

PostSubject: Re: Ask a Guide.   Ask a Guide. EmptyFri Aug 07, 2009 2:08 pm

One of my recent product suggestions was for a Channel 4 film "The Unloved" - stupidly I asked for it to be added in the DVD category, and got the response "This title is not yet available on DVD in the U.K" which is fair enough (although I don't think there should be a dot between the U and the K!) as it is a film rather than a DVD.

Anyway, I then realised it should be under TV Programme, and then I got the response "Sorry we are currently processing this suggestion from another user"

If I search for "The Unloved" a million (well, actually 570) things come up in the TV programme section, and without looking through them all, I can see that they've not even got "Unloved" in the title!

So really, my question is how can I find the product, how can I find if someone's written about it? Or is the other user that dooyoo are referring to actually myself?! I'm certainly not bothered about being the first person to review it or anything like that, I just want to post the review - I've just posted it on Ciao, in the DVD section!!!

Any ideas, or shall I contact dooyoo?

The search box on Dooyoo isn't great - it can be easier to use Google's site specific search - put this into the search bar:

"The Unloved" site:dooyoo.co.uk - you'll then find that The Unloved, as a product name, isn't there.

I suspect you're the person that requested it - you can get around that by using a different link and picture, but I'll ask the PTB for you if you like.

And it is always more difficult for dooyoo if the product is not available on amazon as in TV, Food etc. They prefer direct links to amazon as it is easier for database people so any products you can add that are on amazon tend to be added with less fuss. (Not a Guide but sticking my oar in anyway).

That's the problem really as it wasn't on Amazon, my link was to the Channel 4 website.

If Helen or matty could take this forward on Monday then I would very much appreciate it, so thank you!

How come we didn't get any film/music etc (automated) product additions this week?

And when will we get them?

Never managed to get a satisfactory answer (or, I think, any answer at all) about why what seems like a simple automated process often doesn't happen, so if one of the guides can get an answer on that too, that would be absolutely marvellous.

Mary

it needs to go in TV but if you could resubmit just in case there was a glitch, otherwise it will still be a work in progress...thanks

What about informing Dooyoo so that the other suggestion is deleted from the queue, Helen? Would that be of any benefit to Dooyoo?

A few things for someone to bring to dooyoo's attention?

Dooyoolovers in speakers corner. They seemed to have moved Jo's review to Internet but left the category there? The cateogry is either valid or not and Jo's review should have either stayed or the category been removed when her review was moved no?

Speakers corner season tournaments? What is that all about, loads of them for loads of football clubs. Is this really necessary? The category title makes little sense anyway!

Today the dooyoo community page is talking about the thank the author function. Well it might look like a nice function to non-consumers but it doesn't actually work as far as I can tell.

Whilst not logged in, I have thanked myself a couple of times from PCs I don't normally use, as an experiment Wink but these thanks do not reach me. Do dooyoo actually think it works - perhaps one of the guides could clarify that?

Yeah, I would place more store in asimple thanks from a genuine consumer rather than a rate froma member.

The stats are currently collated by DY but not distributed. They are deciding what to do with the info.

There's a review that was initially posted in SC, in a discussion category, that was (correctly) moved into an existing category in the consumer section and is now back in Discussion. Why are there essentially two categories for the same topic, one in SC and one in consumerland? Can a guide answer this or ask Dooyoo please?

I agree, I was always under the impression multiple categories for an identical products was a huge no no but dooyoo seem to be apporaching things differently now.
