| The Community page lists some names for celebrated revies but they seem to be randomly picked, some not writing anything for three months. Is there any point to this? | |

| I dont think it is literally randomly picked, unlike the dooyoo loves thing which is automated.
Somebody who last wrote a review three months ago, might have written many quality reviews on products non members might actually research. So they are not necessarily unworthy of celebration and IMO more worthy than somebody who is recent but has worked their way through their kitchen cupboards.
Still I have occasionally wondered about selections, although it is the kind of thing I would ignore more often than not.

| But why are they listed? Have they written something relevent? Todays person wrote just one review this month, hardly the type of dooyoo member they are currently seeking out to join.. | |

| But they may be excellent raters, and they may be encouraging them to write more.
No point seeing demons where none (probably) exist!

| I don't think it is random; I think they are chosen. | |

| I don't know who today's person is and I don't care. I just don't think it's necessary for you to basically tell everyone that you don't think they're much good. | |

I was talking about in general...every time they do it over the year... There are some abrupt people here.

| With respect, you're the one who said 'Look at today's' - are you suggesting you were saying we should look and be stunned by their excellence?
If this is the 'green box' feature, I'm fairly sure that all you have to do is add a photo of yourself and ask them to let you sit in the box. It's not rocket science. But if you don't have a proper profile photo you can't be in the box.

| They could be picked for anything, really. I once saw members mentioned on the community pages for the number of comments they'd written, even though 90% are worthless.
I'd much prefer it if these things were done to highlight good members (good as the community sees it, not good as in what Dooyoo might consider good) because you can never get enough good raters or people that carefully choose the topics in which they write rather than those that post 20 food reviews per day or pst half-assed SC articles based on whatever paper they read on the bus that morning.

| I dont disagree CF, I feel that they just don't have enough time to do it on truly community focused activities or indeed consumer focused criteria, so it becomes a little bit of a lottery...unfortunately.. | |

| I agree (and know) that the ones that cycle through the home page are indeed random, but the 'celebrated dooyooers' - the ones the Dooyoo Team trust for a week each week aren't random.
I don't really know how the green box thing works. I was in it once, but not for a category I'd have thought was my forte (audio and hifi, I think, which I found odd). I don't think the choice is entirely random of person, but I do not know that for sure.

| The green box thing is self promotion I understand, members trying to hawk their reviews more. | |

| I was once put in the green box without asking to be put there, so it's not all self-promotion. Maybe they choose people when there are no members stepping forward.
(Choosing me was a mistake as I don't have a photo.)

| I've no idea how the green box thing could ever be described as self-promotion, Phil. Where'd you get that idea from? | |

| I think there is nothing to stop people putting themselves forward for the greenbox, but the people I know who have been in it were all quite surprised to find themselves there. I don't think anybody has reported an increase in reads either. | |

| One of the key criteria for inclusion appears to be whether or not you have included a personal photograph. I'm not prepared to play that game - I don't see what relevance what I look like has on how I write - so I will never feature on the list. I guess that's my choice and I have to accept it, but I can't pretend I'm happy with it. Besides, I'm so stunningly good looking that if I included a photo everyone else would just give up and go home | |

| Incidentally, I tend to agree that being featured in some way doesn't necessarily increase reads, which is another reason I'm not prepared to prostitute my image on the web. I got August's Review of the Month for my Puzzle Quest DS review. As far as I can see from my stats, the net result of that has been an extra 3 reads! The recognition is nice, but you're not necessarily suddenly going to get lots more people visiting your reviews. | |

| My iPhone review of the day got quite a few extra reads, but before it had been "highlighted", it had received a shockingly small amoubnt of reads for the first 3Gs review on the site.
