Films are rubbish!

At the moment, been a serious lack of quality this year. The 3D revolution hasn't impressed me either and has done nothing but bump already expensive prices. Coraline only great film I have seen this year at the flicks. How about you?

I don't tend to keep up with new releases in the cinema, I was not even aware of a 3D revolution ... is there really?

Been to see Confessions of a Shopaholic (absolutely DIRE) and Harry Potter (hmmm, well I will forgive HP anything). Now I have a spanking new home cinema I will wait for the DVD and stick to that.

I saw Public Enemies not that long ago. It was good, but I wouldn't say it was a huge cinema experience. I also saw Transformers 2 which was complete pants. Terminator 3 was decent, but no classic.

I dont think I have been to the cinema this year either.

I went to see G-force on Thursday and it was not bad. a bit schmaltzy at points (but what can you expect from Disney) but some of he writing's was quite good and the guinea pig noises hen heard by humans were spot on

I get confused about what was this year and what was last year...it's been one of those years!

Role models was one of the best films that I've seen in a long time. At the time that it was on at the cinema my dad had cancer and my sister and I went to the cinema for a break and just laughed continuously for the entire film but I'm not sure if it was because the film was great or because the break was such a relief!

Other than that there have been a lot of good films that aren't great and a few really awful films.

I've seen three in the cinema in 2009 I think - The Spirit and Terminator: Salvation which weren't much good, and Watchmen which was actually pretty good. But yeah, not a great year film-wise.

I agree. I used to go to the cinema every week (even though some of the stuff I saw was absolute garbage!), so far this year, it's about once a month. True, it doesn't help that my local cinema now seems to show mostly back to back kids' films with two other films showing on about 5 screens, limiting the options for showings of smaller movies.

Distrcit 9 seems to be a big hit with the broadsheet film hacks.

Just reviewed it and I thought it was massive piles of poo but I do seem to be the only one! Anyone else seen it yet?

I'd really like to see District 9 - not only has the non-genre press liked it, but friends of mine, who are not huge genre fans (ok, a friend, who is a gamer and a South African) loved it.

District 9 is a funny one. I've not seen it yet, but I have seen two trailers. The first one I saw made it look awful and pretty much decided me I wasn't going to watch it. Then I saw the second one and it looked like it could be an interesting blend of sci-fi and political commentary, which, along with the generally positive media reviews, has made me think may be I will see it...

Of course that depends whether my utterly rubbish local cinema bothers to put on a showing at anything approaching a reasonable time...

I suspect it has deeper meanings, not just about white aphartied. My brother worked out there and he says there was just a smuch resentment from the black middle-class to the the immigrant black class in the townsips as there was whites tt them..

I watched District 9 and thought it was great. I didn't look for any deeper meaning in it than a decent sci-fi flick though.

Its to do with Aphartied they say. But not so much between black and white but between native blacks and Nigerian black gangs now driving crime in South Africa, the aliens the native black South Africans.

I watched District 9 last night and thought it was adequate, if nothing particularly special. Watch out for my Dooyoo review premiering soon (is blatant advertising allowed on this board?!)

Surrogates is rubbish! Just watched any given sunday and that is an excellent movie.

Last Harry Potter part is rubbish with a big letter
